Thanks to some $35 Skybus tickets, our family decided to make a trip to Portland Maine and Boston Massachusetts for Spring Break.  Along the way, the kids visited 5 states for the first time (New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut).

  • The English settlement at Plymouth Plantation, overlooking the ocean.
  • We toured the Mayflower II - a replica of the original Mayflower.
  • Plymouth Rock where legend has it the pilgrims first stood in 1620.
  • America (and Boston) runs on Dunkin' Donuts.
  • On our last day in Boston, we took a Duck Tour of the city. These are World War 2 era amphibious vessels.
  • Our tour guide on the Duck Tour was quite hillarious - SS = Super Size.
  • The tour guide let the kids drive the duck while we were on the Charles River. Here Cassady takes us under a bridge.
  • Matthew got his turn driving the duck too.
  • Grabbing lunch at the Museum of Science, after the Duck Tour.
  • The museum has a huge Van der Graaf generator. Unfortunately, we missed the show.
  • This Tinker Toy computer, made by MIT students, and actually play Tic Tac Toe. This is much more ambitious than I ever was with mine!
  • Cassady sneaking up on birds.
  • The kids played Kim Possible on the Game Boy during down times, here waiting to head home.
